To Our Friends & Neighbors

As we reflect back on the year here at the Wellness Center, we cannot begin speaking about it before acknowledging you, the community!

It is the people of the West Harlem community that motivates us to continually improve our programming year after year. We hope that for 2020 we will have many more exciting events and workshops for you all to enjoy.

Without further ado, here is a list of our favorite memories of 2019.

Zumba with the Harlem Wellness Center

At the Wellness Center, we kicked off the year with some fun dancing and Zumba! This event was made possible through the generous help of Vivian Kurutz, Executive Director of the Harlem Wellness Center.

Slime Time

In our first annual Spring Manhattanville Community Day, we learned about the benefits of the slimy concoction that is all the craze these days. Families got the chance to learn about the surprising wellness benefits behind slime while getting their hands sticky.

Be on the lookout for more information on our 2020 Manhattanville Community Day coming in April.

Yoga at the Wellness Center

In July, participants put their hands together at heart center and said 'namaste.' This was the Wellness Center's first yoga class and as 2020 unfolds, we hope to continue providing exercise and yoga classes for the community to attend.

InTOuCH Graduation: Class of 2019

Another graduation of Community Health Workers (CHWs) was held this August — this graduation was especially monumental as InTOuCH reached 100 graduates of the Community Health Worker training program.

Fun fact: Did you know that Community Health Workers of the InTOuCH program have screened over 5,000 participants since the program began in 2017.

Manhattanville Community Day

On September 28th, the Manhattanville campus held its second annual Community Day event. The theme of the Columbia University campus has been 'Year of Water' in recognition of the relationship between people and water, shown through the creativity of art. At the family day event, participants showed us their expression of art on their self-decorated reusable water bottle.

Saturday Science

Last but not least, we want to thank Saturday Science for their warm welcoming of the Wellness Center during their monthly events. Although our services are specifically for adults, we encounter many eager kids at our table wanting to learn more about health and wellness.

These are just a snapshot of the activities happening at the Wellness Center. We hope you continue to stay connected with us to learn more about future events. Our social media information is at the bottom of the page or just continue subscribing to our monthly e-newsletter, Blue Mint.

The Wellness Center team wishes you and your family a wonderful, warm holiday season and a happy new year. See you in 2020!
